Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Nevada

A drive down this winter road will take you into Red Rock Canyon National Conservation area. Not to be confused with Red Rocks Amphitheater, a popular outdoor concert venue in Colorado, this desert landscape is located just a 30-minute drive from downtown Las Vegas. Here you’ll find dramatic rock formations, sandstone peaks, and maybe even a wild burro or two.


The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Nevada is an area managed by the Bureau of Land Management as part of its National Landscape Conservation System, and protected as a National Conservation Area. It is located about 15 miles west of Las Vegas, and is easily seen from the Las Vegas Strip. The area is visited by more than two million people each year.
